Our Programs

The Housing Authority offers several housing assistance programs. Below are descriptions of each program. Please click here for information regarding how to apply. Public Housing

The Management Office for current Public Housing tenants is located at 335 S. Wahsatch Ave.
The Colorado Springs Housing Authority owns and operates 707 units throughout Colorado Springs. These units are offered at subsidized rents (30% of gross income) to eligible families, seniors, and persons with disabilities. Income and rent are reviewed annually. Units are inspected annually as well. Applicants are required to move to one of the units within Colorado Springs when they are offered a unit.

Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8)

The Management Office for current Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) tenants is located at 831 S. Nevada Ave.
The Housing Choice Vouchers program is a rent subsidy program that assists eligible low-income persons and their families in obtaining affordable, decent, and safe housing by paying a portion of their rent. Eligible applicants locate a unit in the private rental market. Rent must be within the current allowed Payment Standards. The tenant pays between 30% and 40% of their gross income for rent. Participants are required to have an annual inspection. 

Determining Family Unit (voucher) Size: The Housing Authority will assign one bedroom for each two persons within the household, except in the following circumstances:

Beginning January 3rd, 2017, the Colorado Springs Housing Authority Section 8 Housing Specialists and Intake staff will no longer see walk-ins. All voucher holders and intake clients must have a scheduled appointment with their Specialist.

Senior Housing

The Management Office for current tenants is located at 335 S. Wahsatch Ave.
Senior housing consists of several senior apartment buildings located throughout Colorado Springs as part of our Public Housing and other Housing Assistance programs. All units in these senior buildings are carpeted and have private baths with either showers and/or tubs and private kitchens with stoves and refrigerators. All buildings are located near shopping areas and bus lines. The rent on these units varies from 30% of the adjusted gross income to paying a flat rent amount. Many of the buildings offer low-cost nutritious lunches provided by the Golden Circle Nutrition Program.

Kiowa Properties

Kiowa Properties are one bedroom units for eligible elderly/disabled applicants. Tenants will pay 30% of their gross income for rent and will be responsible for paying their electric bill. Kiowa Properties are two Victorian houses with a total of ten apartments close to downtown Colorado Springs. There are laundry rooms and off street parking. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



Pikes Peak Properties

Pikes Peak Properties are one bedroom and two bedroom units for eligible families, elderly/disabled applicants. Tenants will pay 30% of their gross income for rent and some apartments are responsible for paying their electric bill depending upon the location. Pikes Peak Properties are located at two different locations and have four apartments per building. They offer off street parking as well as two handicapped accessible units. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



Shooks Run

Shook’s Run apartments are one and two bedroom units located close to downtown Colorado Springs. Shook’s run is located close to a park. The rent is a flat rent and residents are required to pay utilities. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



MOD Rehab

MOD Rehab consists of two bedroom apartments located by the south end of downtown. There are only six units in this program. Greccio housing manages this property and approves all applicants for the program.



Southview Plaza

Southview Plaza apartments are for senior and or disabled residents. It is in east central portion of Colorado Springs located by Prospect Lake. There are 31 units with a balcony and rent is based on a Flat rent. There are laundry facilities on site as well as off street parking. The Golden Circle Nutrition Program delivers meals at South view Plaza for a suggested donation. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



Franklin Square

Franklin Square apartments are for senior and disabled residents. It is in east central portion of Colorado Springs located by Shook’s Run Park. There are 32 units and rent is based on a Flat rent. There are laundry facilities on site as well as off street parking. The Golden Circle Nutrition Program delivers meals at Franklin Square for a suggested donation. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



Centennial Plaza Apartments

Centennial Plaza Apartments are one bedroom apartments for senior and or disabled residents. It is located by downtown Colorado Springs. There are 99 units with a balcony and rent is based on 30% of gross income. There are laundry facilities on site as well as off street parking. The Golden Circle Nutrition Program delivers meals at Centennial Plaza for a suggested donation. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



Senior Heritage Apartments

Senior Heritage Apartments are one bedroom apartments for senior and or disabled residents. It is located in the central portion of Colorado Springs by the Senior Center. There are 33 units and rent is based on 30% of gross income. There are laundry facilities on site as well as off street parking. The Golden Circle meal program delivers meals at the Senior Center across the parking lot from Senior Heritage for a suggested donation. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.



Rio Grande Village

Rio Grande Village is one and two bedroom newly built apartments located close to the downtown area. Rent is based on a sliding scale flat rent as well as full market rate rents. Tenant pays gas and electric and there is off street parking. Each unit has a laundry room with washer dryer hook-ups. Participants are required to have an annual inspection.
